DGWB Plays the Greatest First Two Innings Ever

Steady defense, timely hitting and dazzling play by an intern helped pace DGWB during a very impressive first two innings Monday night in an OC Advertising  Co-Ed Softball League game at Bill Barber Park in Irvine.

DGWB pitcher Doug Koegeboehn gathered the team after the first two innings to applaud it for the great achievement of playing a team as good as the opponent was, so closely during the first two innings.

“We felt really proud about that effort,” said DGWB skipper Jessica Guillen. “Those first two innings are basically what softball is all about. It was a majestic display.” Continue reading

Our ADDYs keep adding up

Being highly regarded by our peers is always an honor, and it’s even more so when it happens right in our own backyard. We earned 32 honors during the 2012 OC ADDY Awards, handed out in March by the OC Ad Federation, formerly known as the OC Ad Club.

In all, DGWB received five Gold and 11 Silver awards — topping our 2011 output in those top two categories — as well as 16 Bronze awards for our work on behalf of clients DOLE Fresh Fruit, Bard Valley Natural Delights Medjool Dates, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Wienerschnitzel, Star Fine Foods, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and the California Avocado Commission. Also included were awards honoring work done for Taller San Jose, one our pro bono clients. Continue reading

No cubicle is safe from the madness

There’s nothing like March Madness—not only is it a legitimate opportunity to engage in inner-office gambling, but it’s also a fantastic geography quiz.

Creighton, Xavier, Butler, Drake.  Davidson, Lehigh, Murray State. If not for March, you’d never of heard of ’em. What the heck is an Iona and where the fudge is St. Bonaventure? The Belmont U’s of the world are suddenly household names and something called Gonzaga gets to dominate the headlines again. Gonzaga’s in Washington, by the way (the rest, we’re not so sure). How the Sausage King of Chicago upped the ante on Super Bowl ads

Year after year post-Super Bowl conversations around the water cooler focus on the commercials–which ads made everyone roar with laughter, and which elicited the sound of crickets. The meteoric rise of social media usage in recent years has only added to the chatter by allowing these conversations to flourish online and allowing viewers to voice their opinions–providing advertisers instant feedback.

Helping Toshiba to Help the Helpers

Toshiba Helping the Helpers Technology Makeover is the latest corporate social responsibility campaign from Irvine, Calif.-based Toshiba America Business Solutions, an independent operating company of Toshiba Corp. The campaign’s home base is Toshiba’s Toshiba for Good Facebook page, which DGWB Advertising & Communications is proud to help operate.

DGWB currently is reaching out to nonprofit organizations, as well as members of the national and business-to-business media, to spread the word regarding Helping the Helpers. And it’s a worthwhile one, at that: This nationwide contest will award a $100,000 technology makeover to one deserving grand prize winner and $28,500 in Toshiba technology to four other finalists.

Not only is this a terrific opportunity, it’s very simple for worthy charities to take part in. Nonprofit organizations of all sizes are encouraged to put together a brief video (no longer than 2 minutes in duration) describing their mission, goals and how they would benefit from a Technology Makeover. These videos don’t need to be fancy, either. Nonprofits can use whatever they’ve got on hand to create them, even a cell phone. Continue reading

DGWB helps Thermador steal the show at CES

What a week it’s been for our client Thermador. The luxury kitchen appliance pioneer that introduced the world to so many amazing innovations has done it again. Actually, they’ve outdone themselves this time—and it was our pleasure to help get the word out. This week Thermador unveiled its Freedom Induction Cooktop at the CES Unveiled media event in Las Vegas.

First, a quick 101 on what induction is: it’s a technology that, unlike gas cooking, utilizes a magnetic field generated by alternating electronic current to efficiently produce heat directly onto the actual cookware, instead of transferring heat from gas flames to the cookware. Continue reading

The traditional Mediterranean lifestyle consists of fresh vegetables, whole grains, fish and olive oils, with a lower risk of cancer, and heart, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases (Mayo Clinic). For this reason, Star Fine Foods, the 113-year-old California importer of olive oils and Mediterranean specialty foods, partnered with DGWB to celebrate the remarkable health and taste benefits of the Mediterranean lifestyle that is supported by the launch of several new Star products, including grape seed oil, infused aromatic oils and an extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) made from olives grown in the Holy Land – as well as its first California-grown EVOO made exclusively from olives grown in California’s Central Valley.
